one part of chapter 1 that i found fascinating was the section on "digital kids". ever since i was in school we've had computer classes that taught us the basics of computer navigation. now i see kids that know how to surf the internet and have myspace accounts and they havnt even reached middle school yet. i find it so weird, but then i think about how my parents must feel, having the computer only being introduced about 20 years ago. i used to work in a daycare and i'd see 10 year old kids with sidekicks and psp's. it's crazy to think about, but that's what our world is coming to. i can't imagine what it'll be like in the next 20 years; maybe we'll have flying cars...

since my last posting, i've learned how to create a blog and customize it to however you want. i think that this skill will be very usefull in my teaching career because everyday the world becomes more and more technologically advanced and i wouldn't be surprised if by the time im a teacher, all teachers will be required to post blogs for their students to keep updated. even now we have blackboard which is kind of the same thing, and ive heard that some high schools are beginning to use blackboard. i think that teachers will even start to have their students post their homework as blogs in the future.

im very glad that this class, or a computer literacy class of some kind, is required as a prerequisite for many majors. i think that in the future, every aspect of people's lives are going to be run through the internet and everyone should have the knowledge that we will learn from this class. this is good stuff to know no matter what career someone chooses.

Your post is very thoughtful, especially the last paragraph. I thought your personal comments were very refreshing and a good idea for the first two paragraphs.

Hey ya. I hear you about the ever-increasing usefullness of the internet. This class (even though we may already know most of it) is becoming almost essential as computer literacy is required for almost every major now. Too bad I took CGS2010 not knowing I had to take this one already for my major. *sigh*
