chapter 4 was taught me a lot and it was all things that as a teacher you need to know. you should be able to identify the different parts of a computer and what goes where and how to do everything. all these things are essential in any job really, since as ive said before, everything is becoming based around computers. really all of these things are essential in everyday life. one thing they mentioned was picture cds and how to use them. i use kodak easy share software and make picture cds all the time.

one skill ive learned since last class was how to set up a chart on inspiration. the inspiration software is very good for teachers because its so easy to use and walks you through all the steps. ive also learned many new skills on word because of the SAM exercises we had to do.

recently, i started a new job at paradise grill and bar and one thing i have to do as a hostess is put to-go orders into the computer. if i had never worked with a computer before, learning how to do that would have been reallyyyyy hard. on friday nights, they have a band and a dj and its really fun so everyone should come! the food is realllyy good too, so everyone come!

one part of chapter 1 that i found fascinating was the section on "digital kids". ever since i was in school we've had computer classes that taught us the basics of computer navigation. now i see kids that know how to surf the internet and have myspace accounts and they havnt even reached middle school yet. i find it so weird, but then i think about how my parents must feel, having the computer only being introduced about 20 years ago. i used to work in a daycare and i'd see 10 year old kids with sidekicks and psp's. it's crazy to think about, but that's what our world is coming to. i can't imagine what it'll be like in the next 20 years; maybe we'll have flying cars...

since my last posting, i've learned how to create a blog and customize it to however you want. i think that this skill will be very usefull in my teaching career because everyday the world becomes more and more technologically advanced and i wouldn't be surprised if by the time im a teacher, all teachers will be required to post blogs for their students to keep updated. even now we have blackboard which is kind of the same thing, and ive heard that some high schools are beginning to use blackboard. i think that teachers will even start to have their students post their homework as blogs in the future.

im very glad that this class, or a computer literacy class of some kind, is required as a prerequisite for many majors. i think that in the future, every aspect of people's lives are going to be run through the internet and everyone should have the knowledge that we will learn from this class. this is good stuff to know no matter what career someone chooses.
