something i liked about reading other peoples' blogs is that theyre more than just school related things, we aslo have the freedom to talk about things that intrest us and also social things that we've been involved in. it's interesting to get to know my classmates this way.
one thing that i'd like to learn more about is how to create a web page of my own. one class that i observed, the teacher had a website that corresponded to the class. i think that would be so helpful and effective in a classroom.
to acheive this goal i'd have to probably take an online tutorial, or get a software program that instructed me on how to do this. i think that this would be a useful skill to learn for someone who had teaching as a career path, or just for anyone.

the one web-based research tool that i most often use, not only for school, but just for anything i want to know is wikipedia. i know we've all heard that wikipedia isn't accurate most times, but i dont know how true that is. everything i've ever looked up has been very accurate, and most times i trust almost everything i read.
i don't know however if i'd recommend wikipedia to my students. i think that for papers and such, students should find books in the library; wikipedia makes it too easy. for general knowledge however, id absolutely recommend wikipedia. there really is everything you need to know about anything under the sun.
one skill that i'd like to learn is how to do everything in excel. ive heard that its very helpful in figuring out equations quickly and making charts.
some ways that i'd acheive this goal is to go to class and learn about it first of all. another way is to take an online tutorial in excel to learn things that we skipped out on.

chapter 8 discussed security issues, ethics, and emerging technology into education. i think that with the frequent use of the internet in schools, there are sure to be issues with security. of course there are security issues inside and out of schools, but when schools get involved, there become a lot of legal issuses.
since my last post one skill i've acquired is how to do a lot on powerpoint. ive worked with powerpoint before in high school, but ive never really known what i was doing and how to do everything.
internet security has affected me before. last year, my roommate in the dorm stole my identity over the internet. she used my name, social security number, address and checking account number to buy stuff online. luckily, i filed a police report on her and she got arrested and had to pay me back, but it just shows that identity theft really happens.

chapter 7 is about evaluating educational technology and integration strategies. as a teacher, you need to be able to evaluate different kinds of technology and decide which kinds you want to use in your classroom. you need to be knowlegded and have researched all the differnt things that are available and make an educatied decision on what you want your students to use.
since my last post, i now know how to search the web better then i did before. the web hunt we did in class really helped me with that. as a teacher, you have to be able to find information online to share with your students.
something i'd like to share with the class is that ive begun doing my fieldwork service in schools around tallahassee. i really like observing different teachers and teaching styles as it helps me figure out my own teaching style.

chapter 6 was about technology integration into schools and classrooms, which is similar to what our group did for our project. in the future, when we are teachers, technology is going to be prominent in classrooms and teachers need to be prepared for that. there already is so much technology being used in schools and teachers need to step it up to compete with the technology.
since my last post, ive acquired many skills. i now know how to do everything possible in word. this skill comes in handy all the time, being a college student.
something i want to share with the class is GO NOLES!

chapter 6 was about technology integration. this chapter was kind of similar to chapter 5, however, i did learn something that i found to be useful. i think that the KWL charts are a great idea. to have students write down what the already know, what the want to know, and what they will learn is a great way for students to get involved and think critically.
since my last post ive learned how to make charts with check boxes. im working on our project right now and as i said in my last post, since having to do the word training, all of this is much easier. i now know how to create tables, lines, shade things, and create check boxes.
one way that i use technology on a day to day basis is using my digital camera. i take pictures, upload them to my computer, edit them, then post them on facebook. all of this comes easily to me, probably because ive been doing it so long and so often. i love that with my computer and my kodak easy share software i can crop, rotate, and change pictures however i want.

chapter 5 was about how multimedia is now being integrated into classrooms. i love that now many classrooms and run by digital media. it makes learning so much more interesting when you can look at a slide show of pictures. even i enjoy learning this way much more, so i bet elementary school children would prefer it as well.
some skills ive learned since i last posted are how to search things on google. from doing our "web hunt", i now know exactly what to type in when looking for something specific. i also learned that if you want to search for something specific, put quotes around it.
the semester is almost over and so far i've learned so much from this class. doing projects and typing papers are so much easier now that i know exactly what im doing and i dont have to guess how to do things.
